There is always something going on at the CBC. As a club we encourage members to come up with ideas, suggestions on what we can do as a group. Here is a snippet of what we have been up to, what's coming up and any other special mentions.

Annual Christmas Quiz This year, Covid restrictions led the club to waive their membership fees for current members. Despite this, members opted to pay their fees so they could be donated to North West Air Ambulance. A cheque for £2180 was presented to NWAA at the Bike Club’s annual quiz night which was held at Clitheroe Rugby Club on the 1st December and an additional £100 raised on the night by a raffle organised by Club Chairman, Trevor Lingard. |
September 2021
Bunker Ride Michael Prescott led a ride to the Brindle Royal Observer Corps Bunker following the Lancashire Cycleway. Riders had fun exploring the historic site and were treated to a picnic lunch before riding back to Clitheroe. A great time was had by all. Further details of the Bunker can be found at www.brindle-roc-post.org/about |

Ride For DuncanIn celebration of our sadly missed member, Duncan at the end of July we dedicated our ride in his honour and rode one of his favourite routes. Many of us enjoyed Duncan's company and support on rides and Club events and this was a lovely opportunity to acknowledge his involvement in helping us and the Club develop.
The intention was for all rides to converge on the public car park in Stainforth, just off the main road at Stainforth. Here we enjoyed a fantastic cafe stop from 'Duncan's Pop-up Snack Bar' (approx. 10-15 until 11-30) which gave us a chance to share stories and to chat with his beloved Ruth and her helpers Mary and Jackie. The 'main' ride then continued over Duncan's much loved Halton Gill loop to Grassington, around 65 miles from Clitheroe. A little hilly at first but some fantastic views of areas where Duncan did much of his competative running. The ride started as usual from Roefield Car Park at 9-00am in groups of 6-8 and taking various routes to Stainforth to avoid mass gatherings both enroute and Snack Bar queues! Thankyou especially goes to Ruth, Mary and Jackie for all the effort in producing an amazing selection of food and drink for what was a fantastic turnout by the club. |

CBC Park and Ride to Channel 5`s "Our Yorkshire Farm"Thanks to Steve Taylor for organising today's park and ride to Ravenseat. We all had a scone and a brew and met Amanda and Clive. Paul and I met up with the main group there having cycled up from Kirkby Stephen. I can confirm it's very uphill and very remote. A great time was had by all. |

CBC Park and Ride to CheshireCBCs park and ride to the Cheshire Plains was organized, planned and led by Jonathan Ledner . In outrageously hot sunny weather we set off to tackle what was a gruelling but spectacular first half of the ride. 4000 ft of ascent in 35miles definately took its toll. A welcomed stop for lunch and the remaining 30 miles in less heat over a flatter but still challenging route back to the finish. A memorable day indeed. Well done to Sally and Janet (who hadn't planned for such a hard ride) but showed how determined and fit they both are. Thanks everyone for great company as always and especially Jonathan for a great route |

Toblerone and Trig Points Returns !The Inaugral version last year saw a win for Sally Long and Dave Long. Duncan Thompson ran them close along with Team John Kirkham. Alan Taylor gave it a good go individually. Lewis Aston got dragged along and wandered around some fields. This year there WILL be a trophy. So there will be a prize as well as glory.... |
A Courageous few battled the Fred Whitton !A number of our members took on the Fred Whitton for the first time this year and all did exceptionally well. We even had emotional support and encouragement from Trevor Lingard who turned up and give the lads a boost. Most people who say one Fred Whitton is one too many clearly aren't Andrew Gudgeon who turned up with a smile and tackled it for the second time. Stopping to take photos of his day and still managed to finish in under 7he 30mins !?! Same time again next year Andy ?

Our Annual weekend away at Conniston yha !
|
At least once a year we try and have a weekend in the lakes, some kind folk drive up with some of the members clothes while they ride up from Clitheroe, cross over Windermere on the Ferry and drop into Conniston for a weekend of rides and laughter before the cycle back on the sunday. As usual its planned when the Eurovision song contest is on and a few die hard fans foolishly support our countries ambishions not to finish last again (we did !).
From the amount of photos posted on facebook looks like a fantastic weekend had by all. |
