September 2024
Kite Festival Ride 16 riders took part in the annual club ride to the Kite Festival at St Annes. It was ideal conditions for kite flying i.e. windy with a strong headwind for the outward journey. The return journey provided a tail wind through winding lanes back to Clitheroe. Lots of fabulous kites to see and a good cafe stop in Lowther Park |

Annual Blackpool photoshoot ride Two groups of CBC members set off in grim conditions to ride to Blackpool for the annual photo with the Tower. The weather brightened up as the neared Blackpool and the two groups met in Stanley Park for lunch at the Pavilion cafe, followed by the traditional group photo with Blackpool Tower. |

The Day of the Century A dry start was followed by a drenching at Inglewhite. Luckily the sun came out later, as CBC members approached the coast. A choppy ferry crossing at Knott End was followed by a hairy ride to St. Annes (the waves were coming over the sea wall). After that, a welcome tail wind took everyone home. Congratulations to all on their 100 mile ride.

Bikepacking to Kettlewell Stephen, Derrick and Trevor packed their bikes and headed for the campsite in Kettlewell for a few days. They blended in very well at the scarecrow festival :) |

Chippy tea ride #2 Following on from the resounding success of the June Chippy Tea Ride, Gillian organised a repeat event. Riders set off a little earlier to ensure a return in daylight and had an excellent chippy tea at The Fisherman in Settle.

Park, train and ride 5 CBC members parked up at Settle, then caught the train to Carlisle to ride back to Settle. A lovely lunch at the Three Clouds at Penrith was followed by snacks at Tebay Services and ice cream at Sedbergh. A great day out for all. It's all about the fuelling!

Buttertubs Park & Ride Paul & Bernadette organised a ride from Kirkby Stephen which involved tackling the challenging, iconic Buttertubs Pass. Members braved wet weather to reach the Tan Hill Inn for a well deserved refuelling stop before returning to their cars for the journey back to Clitheroe.

Chippy Tea Ride The first Tuesday in each month is our social evening, and this month a 'Chippy Tea Ride' was organised by Gillian. Members met at Roefield Car Park and rode to Settle in 'warm rain' where they enjoyed a tasty Chippy tea before returning for a drink in the New Inn.

Ribble Valley Ride CBC members braved a wet and windy day to take part in the Ribble Valley Ride which offered distances to suit all riders with well-stocked refreshment stops. Despite the inclement weather, a good time was had by all while raising much needed funds for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Barnard Castle Park & Ride Norman organised a park & ride from Leyburn to Barnard Castle. CBC members braved a chilly wind buffeting them from the North for the first part of the ride. Fishcakes & chips from a cafe in Barnard Castle fortified the riders for the challenge of the main climb - the Stang. After another stop for coffee and cakes in Reeth, the sun came out for the return trip to Leyburn. |

CBC on tour - Llanidloes mid Wales bunkhouse CBC members joined Charles on his trip to Wales. Fifteen people assembled at the bunkhouse, which had fabulous facilities, and was in a superb location. It is a great area to cycle in, lots of steep, 18%, short climbs on narrow single track lanes. Sweeping vistas on the summits, fast greasy descents, alongside fast flowing streams. Kamikaze sheep and chasing sheepdogs added to the fun. Everyone agreed that the going was tough and mileage expectations had to be reduced. A great time was had by all.

CBC on tour - Denia, Spain Members escaped the UK's winter weather to enjoy a trip to Denia in Sunny Spain. A great time was had by all riding new routes and spotting pro teams out training.

Christmas Meal This year's Christmas meal was at Middle Studfold Farm near Settle. Members usually ride to the venue, but this year, we woke to icy conditions, so a pre-dinner walk was hastily organised. Lovely meals were enjoyed by all. |

Santa Ride Sadly, this year's Santa Ride was scuppered by the British weather, however CBC members made their way to Grindleton Pavillion for a lovely lunch and social event

Quiz Night Members gathered at the Rugby Club for the annual Quiz Night, hosted by quizmaster Dave Long. A pie & peas supper was enjoyed and spot prizes presented. Representatives from North West Air Ambulance were present to receive a donation £1098 as CBC's chosen charity.

Club night - Paul & Bernadette's tours of Europe Paul & Bernadette gave a talk on their cycling tours of Europe. The presentation included tops tips about transport to the continent, and essential kit and accessories. |

Summer 2023
Throughout the summer months, members have been flying the CBC flag by taking their bikes on holiday. From relatively local tours of Yorkshire to trips as far away as Germany and Italy, CBC members can't resist spending quality time with the love of their lives.

Lytham Kite Festival The sun shone for the annual trip to the Lytham Kite Festival. CBC members grouped according to their desired speed and climb, then had lunch from the cafe in the park. After watching the kites, members split into their groups for the journey home. |
