News

There is always something going on at CBC.  Here is a snippet of what we've been up to recently:
December 2025
Best Cafe Award

A big part of our social rides is the cafe visit, and each year club members vote for their 'cafe of the year'. Club Chair, Robert Ward was pleased to present the certificate for Best Cafe 2025 to Elaine's Tea Room at Feizor.

Santa Ride

The weather stayed fine for this year's CBC Santa Ride. Riders in seasonal fancy dress followed Craig (AKA Rudolf) who pulled a musical sleigh through the streets of Clitheroe and surrounding villages, bringing Christmas cheer to everyone. The ride was followed by a delicious meal at Grindleton Pavilion (before a slightly soggy ride home!).

Annual Quiz Night

CBC members swapped their cycle helmets for thinking caps at the annual quiz night. The event was held at the Old School Rooms & Assembly Hall in Clitheroe, where members enjoyed a quiz followed by a delicious supper. The winners of the quiz were team 'Cloth Eared Crew' and Craig won the prize draw. North West Air Ambulance representatives took part in the evening's entertainment, and were presented with a cheque for £1101.30 with an additional £135.82 raised on the night. NWAA has been CBCs nominated charity for the past few years.

Summer 2025
Off on our travels

When the summer comes around, there's nothing better than going on holiday with your best friend (and maybe another human or two). This summer, CBC members have been visiting places far and wide with their bikes, including France, Sweden, Coniston, Hawkshead and Edinburgh.

Lytham Kite Festival

There was a smaller than usual turnout for our annual ride to the Lytham Kite Festival because the weather forecast was poor. Happily, Mother Nature was kinder than the forecast and riders enjoyed the spectacle of the kites before visiting Lytham Kitchen for refreshment.

The Day of the Century
The annual Day of the Century ride fell on one of the hottest days of the year. Riders (including 7 first-time 100 milers) slapped on the sun cream and headed off in groups to meet up for the first stop in Carnforth before progressing to Morecambe for ice cream, then Eccleston for further refreshment. Other groups completed 100km rides in the opposite direction - venturing into Yorkshire for the day.

Chippy Tea ride

Back by popular demand - the CBC chippy tea ride. 18 members met at the Platform Gallery and set off in small groups to Settle. Mother Nature decided we needed a short, sharp shower at Wigglesworth, but the rest of the journey was fairly dry. We took over half of the restaurant at The Fisherman and enjoyed excellent chippy teas, before heading back to Clitheroe. Huge thanks to Gillian for organising the event.

Snowy weather cancels club rides

After a spell of cold weather, Mother Nature decided to send us snow. Members donned their walking boots again and enjoyed walks from Barley and Sabden to make the most of the great outdoors. Of course, we had to have a cafe stop - we may be walkers this week, but we're cyclists at heart.

Icy weather

January started off very cold and icy this year - not really safe for cycling, so Robert suggested a walk in lieu of our usual Saturday ride.
